Frequently asked questions

Electric scooters

You need to be 16 or older to buy an e-scooter or e-bike in Queensland, and we ask for photo ID with every sale. Please bring your ID when you buy or collect. To ride on your own, you also need at least a learner licence. See our Queensland E-Scooter Rules for the full details.

Every e-scooter we sell is supplied speed limited to 25 km/h, the legal limit for riding in public in Queensland. We don't change speed limits for customers. If the speed limit is changed to allow more than 25 km/h, the scooter no longer complies with Queensland law and can only be ridden on private property.

We don't offer test rides, but you're welcome to come in and see the range in store. Our team can talk you through the differences and help you pick the right scooter for your riding.

In Cairns, you collect your scooter from our store fully assembled, checked and ready to ride. Outside Cairns, we can freight e-scooters Australia wide. Freight is quoted for each order and goes to a business address or carrier depot, as couriers can't deliver e-scooters to homes. See Shipping for details.

Most of our e-scooters can be pre-ordered. Ordered-in scooters usually arrive in store in about 2 weeks, and we'll let you know when yours is ready.

Yes. If you bought your e-scooter from Urban Wheelz, your first service is free after your first 100 km or 3 months, whichever comes first. After that we recommend a service every 6 months.
